Rangers Shine in 2023 MLB Gold Glove Awards

The Texas Rangers secured a prominent presence at the 2023 MLB Gold Glove Awards, with three of their standout players recognized as the best defenders in their respective positions.

On Sunday, MLB unveiled the 2023 Gold Glove winners, and the Texas Rangers took center stage with three standout players recognized as the best defenders in their respective positions. Adolis García, the ALCS MVP, shone as a Gold Glove recipient in right field, while Jonah Heim earned the honor as a catcher, and Nathaniel Lowe secured his spot as a Gold Glove-winning first baseman.

Notably, the Rangers’ stars were among 13 first-time winners, marking the second-highest number of debutants in the history of the award, following last year’s 14 first-time recipients.

Sharing the limelight with the Rangers, the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago Cubs also boasted three honorees each. Meanwhile, the San Diego Padres, Cleveland Guardians, and Arizona Diamondbacks celebrated two winners in their ranks.

The awards had room for newcomers as well, with New York Yankees’ shortstop Anthony Volpe and Colorado Rockies’ center fielder Brenton Doyle clinching Gold Gloves as rookies. Of special mention, Volpe’s win marked a historic moment as he became the first rookie in Yankees history to claim this coveted defensive accolade.
