Terence Crawford, the reigning WBA, WBC, and WBO welterweight champion, faced a significant setback in his illustrious career as he was stripped of the IBF welterweight title. This decision came as a consequence of Crawford’s failure to meet the mandatory challenger, Jaron “Boots” Ennis.

Dominant Unification Win:

Crawford had solidified his status as one of boxing’s elite in July, delivering a commanding performance against his arch-rival, Errol Spence Jr., and successfully unifying the WBA, WBC, and WBO welterweight belts.

Stripped of IBF Title:

The International Boxing Federation (IBF) took decisive action on Thursday, stripping Crawford of his IBF welterweight title due to contractual obligation. The IBF ordered Crawford to defend against Ennis, however, Crawford owed Spence an immediate return bout after Spence exercised the rematch clause.

Jaron “Boots” Ennis Elevated:

In response to Crawford’s forfeiture, Jaron “Boots” Ennis, who held the interim title, was elevated to the position of IBF welterweight champion.
